    2-Hour TV Special
We recently received a from a producer in Los Angeles that has been tasked with putting together a meaningful, inspiring two-hour television Veteran's Day special, sponsored by a major US retailer,  for this fall. After contacting the Pentagon and inquiring, they were sent to us and now we are reaching out to you, our readers and supporters for help in scouting.

American Heroes
What they are looking for are military heroes, active duty or veteran, who they can provide some real assistance to and profile, with the goal of highlighting that our veterans are important to us and we want to do more for them.

Help Us Search
In addition to what the show may profile that we are doing, they have provided me with a list of other topics/heroes they would like to profile on the two hour special. Here is the list they provided to me:

  • A Hero who had saved the life of one of his buddies, but now he needs help, so the buddy who was saved, lends a surprise hand to help out.

  • We’d like to help someone who feels like their life is spinning out of control and make things bearable for them. Maybe someone who’s home burned down, or was damaged in a tornado, OR their parents got sick, then their wife lost her job. Really any person who feels like for every chance they have to get ahead, they get pushed 2 steps back.

  • An expectant mother who needs help getting supplies for her baby while her husband is fighting

  • A spouse or parent who has an injured child or spouse but they can’t get to see them so we make arrangements.

  • A story about the sacrifices that our soldiers make, and what drives them to do it.-(Maybe we interview a really interesting family who for generations has served in the military. They share stories of fighting, loosing loved ones, gaining friends etc.

  • A special thanks of some sort that goes out to our entire military, like a salute, or parade etc.

  • Something special in honor of all the heroes we have lost

Timing
This is a tall order in a short period of time, but since this newsletter is going out to a couple thousand of you, including folks from the VA, US armed services, and other organization who daily support our vets, my hope is that you will have some suggestions and contacts for me.

A Good Thing
All of us know that raising public awareness of the needs of our veterans and our need as a nation to stand by them before they go, while they are there, and when they return is critical. It would be easy to find criticism with the goals of the proposed show, but we this as another an outstanding opportunity to let America know that our vets have needs and that they can play a role in meeting them.

Send Your Nominations/Suggestions
Forward your suggestions to me at vetspecials@americanheroesreturn.com and I'll forward them to the producer. And in addition to what the producers do or not do, we will use this information to springboard our own assistance program. Every veteran we assist is one more veteran honored, join with us as we make a difference, a difference that counts for today, tomorrow, and the rest of their lives.
